FACULTY POSITIONS IN CONSTRUCTION
2006 - 2007 HIRING EFFORT
The Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University, which is an
ACCE-accredited program, is inviting applications and nominations for two
tenured/tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate/and full Professor
level in the areas of Sustainable Construction and Sustainable Project
Delivery/Sustainable Urban Engineering and Transportation or Infrastructure
Development.
The Del E. Webb School of Construction consists of 12 faculty members and offers
B.S. and M.S. degrees in Construction. Undergraduate concentrations are offered
in Residential Construction, Commercial Construction, Heavy Construction, and
Specialty Construction. Graduate Areas of Concentration are offered in
Construction Management, Construction Science, and Facility Management.
Currently approximately 416 undergraduates and 55 graduate students are enrolled

ASU is a Research I university widely recognized as one of the most rapidly
emerging institutions in the U.S. Its main campus is located near the heart of
metropolitan Phoenix in the City of Tempe. Phoenix is a cosmopolitan, culturally
diverse area of approximately two million people. The Fulton School of
Engineering has 8 academic departments and schools and several research centers
and programs. The enrollment of the college includes approximately 4,790
undergraduates and 1,926 graduate students with over 200 tenured or tenure-track
faculty members.
These positions will report to the Director of the Del E. Webb School of
Construction, Dr. James Ernzen. The successful candidate will be expected to
teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise undergraduate and graduate
students, supervise the preparation of graduate theses, perform academic service
functions, develop a strong externally funded research program, publish in
archival journals, serve in professional societies, and participate in seminars
and conferences. This position is planned to support research and teaching in
topics related to the residential construction industry.
A successful candidate in the areas of Sustainable Construction and Sustainable
Project Delivery/Sustainable Urban Engineering will have a PhD in Construction
or related field and appropriate teaching, research and experience in Higher
Education and/or industry, appropriate to rank. A strong record of teaching at
both the undergraduate and graduate level plus demonstrated ability to establish
a sustainable research program that funds graduate students and supports
scholarly effort. A demonstrated record of participation in interdisciplinary
research and teaching activities is highly desirable.
A successful candidate in the area of Transportation or Infrastructure
Development will have a PhD in Construction or related field and appropriate
teaching, research and experience in Higher Education and/or industry
appropriate to rank. In addition, experience in Transportation or infrastructure
development preferably with a focus on the global marketplace. Experience in
Latin America. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and evidence of an understanding of
the Hispanic culture is desired. A strong record of teaching coursework and
advising students along with an established record supporting graduate students
performing research and publishing is desired.
