The Development of a Clean room Construction Dictionary and Course Book

Faculty Advisor:

Dr. Allan Chasey

Abstract: Industry has progressed rapidly since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution; bringing with it a surge of technological advancements. These advancements have given way to the computer age which has affected every aspect of life. The computer age has bridged the gap between continents and propelled us into the space age. The computer age has also changed the way we construct our buildings. However, many people are unaware of the complexity that goes into the production of a building that will eventually give birth to the microchips of the future. Clean rooms are an intricate part of the advancement of technology. Clean rooms make computers, the Internet, and space travel possible. However, only a few people in the construction industry have an extensive knowledge of clean room construction techniques and terminology. The development of a clean room construction dictionary and course book will introduce the builders of today and tomorrow to the world of clean room construction. The terms used in the clean room construction dictionary will be compiled from various web printed sources, reference dictionaries, and reputable journals. The dictionary will be produced in a CD-ROM format and will include hyperlinks to corresponding photographs. The CD-ROM format will also make the information easy to distribute among builders and students alike. The information gathered for the clean room course book will consist of electronically captured articles bundled together to give an in depth look into the clean room construction process.
