Taylor Place: A PPP Project Profile
Taylor Place, developed by Capstone Development Corp., is one of the anchor buildings on the Downtown Phoenix campus. This 352,000-square-foot, mixed-use structure offers 11,000 square feet of retail space that is open to students and the general public at street level with two 13-story towers of residential student housing, a dining hall and many spaces for students to interact on each level. As Principal-in-Charge of SmithGroup Arizona’s Learning Studio, Eddie excels in team building and team maintenance. He is responsible for ensuring the quality and commitment of his team members and for the guarantee of SmithGroup’s continued corporate commitment throughout any project for which his studio is responsible. Eddie is also responsible for assessing project status, budget and schedule to ensure that projects are progressing successfully. Eddie is NCARB Certified, a registered architect in Arizona and Washington DC and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Since becoming the Learning Studio Lead in the Arizona office he has been directly involved in the City of Phoenix/ASU College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation Phase 2, Taylor Place: Arizona State University Downtown Student Housing, Arizona State University Downtown Campus and the University of Arizona Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Jason has served as the Deputy Director for the Downtown Development Office in the City of Phoenix since January 2006. Since joining the city in 1999, Jason has successfully implemented a variety of downtown residential and mixed-use projects and public initiatives including the development of the City’s bioresearch facility, the TGen/IGC headquarters. His responsibilities include management of the Downtown Development Office and the planning and development of the Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix campus and the City’s Phoenix Biomedical Campus.

Bruce has been with Capstone since 2004. He leads the Urban and Campus Development Division of Capstone Development Corp., a national leader in the development of student housing. Bruce has a strong background in architecture and construction and has been actively working with institutional clients throughout the country. He leads the development team and works closely with its collegiate partners, project consultants and regulatory agencies during all phases to ensure client satisfaction and adherence to schedule, budget and quality requirements. Bruce has a Bachelor of Architecture and a B.S. in Building Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Arizona State University
Steve joined Arizona State University as the Director of University Physical Planning in October of 2003 to lead the University and its consultants in a four campus master planning effort, to include the planning and implementation of a new campus in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. His 24 plus years of experience with the City of Tempe, Arizona as the Community Design and Development Director provided an awareness and understanding of the impacts that a University can have on the adjacent city. After 420 public meetings in less than two years, the master plan was completed. The Comprehensive Development Plan was approved by the Board of Regents in June of 2005 and widely accepted by the cities in which the campuses are located. Steve is responsible for implementing the non-academic portions of the Comprehensive Development Plan for all four ASU campuses.
