Salt River Materials Group reaffirms commitment to American Indian construction program
TEMPE, Ariz. - Phoenix-based Salt River Materials Group (SRMG), an enterprise of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, has pledged a $100,000 donation to Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction (DEWSC) to support the school’s Construction in Indian Country (CIIC) program.
The pledge comes in time for the fourth annual CIIC Conference and Golf mixer, hosted by DEWSC and ASU’s Office of American Indian Affairs May 21-23 at the Radisson Fort McDowell Resort in Fort McDowell, Arizona.
Kicking off the conference, this year’s CIIC Golf Mixer will be May 21 at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The golf mixer has become a traditional and enjoyable complement to the conference. Its main purpose is to encourage further contributions to the CIIC program.
Sponsorships and proceeds from both events will fund an academic endowment and grant for American Indian students within DEWSC, support research and training for Tribal Nations and facilitate the annual conference.
SRMG is the largest sponsor of CIIC, having donated $75,000 over the last three years. This year’s $100,000 commitment will be distributed over four years in $25,000 increments; $20,000 of this year’s donation will go directly toward the American Indian Construction Management Endowment and the remaining $5,000 will go toward the cost of the CIIC Golf Mixer.
