  • What is a Declaration of Graduation or DOG?

    A document that must be signed with your advisor that indicates your intended major and catalog each year.

  • What is the Degree Audit Reporting System or DARS?

    An automated record which matches courses a student has completed with the requirements of a particular academic degree program.

  • What is Drop/Add?

    Drop/Add is a period of time, each semester, when students may drop and/or add courses through the first week of regular semesters or the first two days of summer sessions without penalty of the dropped course appearing on the student's transcript.

  • What does Lower Division mean?

    Courses numbered 100-level and 200-level are considered Lower Division.

  • Can I repeat a course I did poorly in?

    An undergraudate course may be repeated for credit only if the grade received is a 'D'. 'E,' 'W,' or 'X' courses in which a 'D' or 'E' was received may be repeated only once. Repeating 100- and 200- level courses replaces the previously earned 'D' or 'E' in the GPA. Repeating 300- and 400-level courses results in both grades being reflected in the GPA.

  • What does Upper Division mean?

    Courses numbered 300- and 400- level.

  • What are Technical Electives?

    Tech Electives are upper division courses in a chosen major that you may choose with the assistance of a faculty advisor.

  • What is a Major?

    A specialized group of courses contained within the program of study, which upon completion leads to a degree.

  • What is a Minor?

    An approved, coherent concentration of academic study in a single discipline, involving substantially fewer hours of credit than the corresponding major.

  • What is a Construction Manager?

    Construction Managers manage construction operations for firms that build and repair structures such as buildings, bridges, roads and dams. They work through on-site supervisors to plan and direct construction activities. They study building plans and estimate the materials, labor, and equipment required to complete work. They establish work procedures, order supplies and materials, review progress reports, and make decisions on staff and equipment requests. They also handle technical matters and union and service contracts.

    This occupation is in the cluster of Management Occupations. This cluster includes top level managers and middle managers. Top level managers are concerned with policy making, planning, staffing, directing and/or controlling activities that are common to many organizations. Middle managers plan, organize, staff or direct activities at an operational level. People in these occupations usually have interests and skills in 'people' and 'data.' Many have leadership qualities and possess a high degree of creative thinking, decision making and problem solving abilities.
