Cindy J. Crawley One of eight project managers -- and the only woman -- for The Skillman Corporation, Indianapolis, IN, a construction management firm. Ms. Crawley manages and administers project ranging in size from $2 to $22 million in the municipal, industrial, and private sectors.
Ms. Crawley has successfully instructed or assisted in the instruction of seven blueprint classes covering architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints. The classes, sponsored by the Indianapolis Chapter of NAWIC, with co-sponsors such as the Associated General Contractors, were offered to the construction industry as a whole. Other courses that Ms. Crawley co-instructed include two Introduction to Construction and two Intermediate Construction courses, both published by the NAWIC Education Foundation and offered to anyone, whether employed in the industry or not. Proceeds from all of the classes have gone towards the NAWIC Education Foundation and Chapter Scholarships.
Affiliated with the Associated General Contractors of Indiana, Inc., and the National Association of Women in Construction, Ms. Crawley is the National Committeeman of the NAWIC Education Foundation, and was recently elected to serve as NAWIC's Director, Region 4, for 1994-95. She has previously served as the President of the Indianapolis NAWIC Chapter. She also participates in Career Days for her employer, emphasizing her specific job responsibilities, as well as the role of women in the construction industry.
Ms. Crawley holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Technology
from Purdue University. She earned that degree by attending classes
at night for ten years. Working hard, willing to do whatever was
necessary, and taking advantage of the opportunities presented
by her employers, she earned new responsibilities and always found
greater challenges.
