Daniel L. Withers
Dan Withers, owner and founder of D. L.
Withers Construction, has been in the construction industry for
over 25 years. Upon graduating from Mesa High School in 1969,
Dan attended Arizona State University where he received his BS
in Construction in 1974.
Since graduating,
Mr. Withers has been involved in multi-million dollar
commercial, industrial and governmental projects nationwide.
Prior to the origination of D. L. Withers Construction, Mr.
Withers was responsible for the design, estimating, cost
accounting and management of over 200 projects, including office
buildings, manufacturing facilities, and financial
institutions. Mr. Withers began his career with Aberthaw
Construction in Los Angeles and continued on to work as a
project engineer, project superintendent, and project manager
for several large contracting firms throughout the Southwest.
In 1981, he started
D. L. Withers Construction. As he began to build the company,
Mr. Withers focused on tenant improvement work and small
commercial projects in order to build an organization and
reputation that was needed to survive in the challenging Arizona
marketplace. Years of hard work and staying focused on his
clients’ needs has made D. L. Withers Construction one of the
top ten General Contractors and Construction Managers in Arizona
and ranked #291 in ENR’s top U.S. contractors in 2002.
Today, D. L.
Withers Construction is a full-service Construction
Manager/General Contractor employing over 90 professionals. The
company’s annual volume of construction contracts exceeded $175
million in 2002. D. L. Withers Construction specializes in
commercial construction including institutional, industrial,
office, retail, sports, entertainment, parking structure and
healthcare facilities projects. The firm provides a
comprehensive range of construction capabilities including
design/build services.
Mr. Withers
diversified background in various types of construction projects
has given him an understanding of effective methods and
management techniques. This experience has been valuable in
meeting the challenges of an ever-changing construction industry
in Arizona.
Mr. Withers is currently
involved with the Del Webb School of Construction, Arizona State
University College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the
College of Architecture and Environmental Design. He is also an
affiliate member of the American Institute of Architects Central
Arizona and Rio Salado Chapters. He is currently on the board
of directors for the Construction Management Association of
American and the Southbank Industrial Park. He is also a
supporter of numerous charities throughout Arizona.
