Steven M. Padilla
Steven M. Padilla, a 1972 graduate of
Arizona State University with a BS in Engineering and Construction,
has devoted all 30 years of his professional career to Hunter
Contracting Company and the construction industry His personal hands-on
experience encompasses a wide variety of projects including highways,
water and wastewater treatment facilities, residential construction and
land development.
Steve began his professional career at
Hunter Contracting in 1972, as an estimator, and later moved up to Project
Superintendent, Project Management, Chief Estimator, Vice President of
Operations and President. Established in 1961, Hunter Contracting Company is a
general contractor based in Arizona with offices in Gilbert and Tucson. His
association with Hunter Contracting has included responsibility for many major
construction projects such as the Airport Water Reclamation Facility in Chandler
for which Hunter received Recognition of Excellence; the SE Mesa Water
Reclamation Plant Expansion; the Deer Valley Water Treatment Plant – Solids
Handling Facility; the Broadway Bridge in Tucson; the I17 Buckeye Overpass;
Miracle Mile; and the Yuma Canal. Steve Padilla was presented the General
Contractor of the Year award in 2000 for Hunter Contracting. Under Steve’s
leadership, Hunter Contracting Co. was recognized by Southwest Contractor
Magazine as one of the Southwest’s Top 100 Contractors for 2001, and has also
been ranked one of the best Heavy Construction Contractors by Arizona Business
Magazine’s Ranking Arizona for the years 2001 and 2002.
Steve is a founding member of the Arizona
State University Alliance for Construction Excellence and a member of the
Executive Committee of the Del E. Webb School of Construction Advisory Council.
He is on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Chapter of Associated General
Contractors of America, a former Chairman of the AGC Education and Training
Committee, and an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration
Association.
Steve has had extensive
civic and community involvement. As a member of the Gilbert Rotary Club since
1984, he is a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is involved in fund
raising for the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley, and the Children’s Organ
Transplant Association through Hunter’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament. He is
also a supporter of the ASU Foundation, the Sun Angel Foundation, Sun Devils
Football, the Mesa YMCA, Tempe Cub Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, St. Andrew the
Apostle Church, The Salvation Army and many other local charitable
events.
Steve resides in Tempe with his wife Pat and their four children.
