(ASC) Associated Schools of Construction Student Award Sub Study

Early in the study the question was proposed: would people “play the game” better if someone kept score?  Would construction organizations market their awards, recognize award recipients, and make construction awards information more visible if someone or some agency was keeping score and reporting?

To answer this question the project team scored the Associated Schools of Construction Programs based on the availability of awards information.  A second sampling of data will occur in the future and be compared to the initial findings to determine if any improvements have occurred over time.  Email notification was sent to each program leader notifying them of their score.  Hard copy letters were also sent.   A list of email addresses and addresses can be found by clicking on the links.  Click here to see a copy of the letter.

A score of 100 meant that the award and the most recent recipient of the award were listed on the website, and that the number of clicks to get to this information was one.  Number of clicks = the maximum amount of clicks from the home page exhausting all possibilities before you get to the desired location.  For each click the school got docked one point.  The school got docked 25 points if they did not list the most recent recipient.   If the schools did not post any awards on their website they did not get a score.   A yes under Awards Listed on the Web means that at least some awards were listed on the website but does not mean that the awards listed were a complete list.
